Both Saturday
teams enjoyed big wins at the
weekend to continue their fine
form in 2008.
The 2nd XI
recorded their second
consecutive 10-wicket win in the
league, this time at the expense
of Northleach. Mark Gardiner
was the star with the ball,
taking 8 for 19 in 9 overs.
Only Johny Johnson by taking the
9th wicket of the innings
prevented Gardiner Snr from
potentially claiming a 10-wicket
haul. And the 10-wicket win was
duly completed in the 9th over
with Siddiq Khan racing to a
quickfire 33 and Graham
Vinnicombe chipping in with 9.
The result leaves the 2nd XI
clear of Tetbury and Badminton
at the top of the table, and the
latter are the visitors to
Englands on Saturday for what
should be a much closer
encounter.
Mark
Higginson again starred with
both bat and ball as the 1st XI
recorded an 8 wicket win over
Charfield. He took 3-13 as the
visitors were restricted to 125
in their 45 overs. And Higgo
then scored an unbeaten 51, ably
supported by Matt Coleman with
42, to record a crushing win.
This Saturday the 1st XI visit
Charlton Kings in a top of the
table clash.
